Honest gear reviews for serious home baristas — from someone who actually uses the equipment.

Fellow came to The Chocolate Barista because they wanted a voice that serious home baristas already trusted — someone who used the equipment without being precious about it, and who could explain why it mattered without sounding like a gear catalog.

The Home Barista Series was a three-part video collaboration produced for Fellow's YouTube channel and distributed across their social platforms. Each episode features Michelle's actual home setup — including the Ascaso Steel Duo PID and Ghost Town Oats — with honest assessments of what the gear does well, where it falls short, and what it actually costs to build a great home setup at different price points.

Good gear is the easy part. The hard part is knowing what you actually want your coffee to do — and building backwards from there.

The series was designed to serve Fellow's existing audience of gear-serious consumers while expanding reach into the specialty coffee professional community. All three episodes include companion written guides published on The Chocolate Barista and linked from Fellow's product pages.
